Attendance Mediation with Tim Lyon

This training takes place on Zoom over two days, Sept 3 & 10, 2026 – 5:00-8:15pm each day.

Description: In a neutral and non-punitive setting, a trained mediator facilitates a conversation to identify the root causes of absenteeism, and create a plan that addresses barriers and promotes consistent school participation.  This 6-hour training prepares participants to facilitate attendance mediations by developing skills in conflict conversations, identifying underlying attendance barriers, maintaining neutrality, and facilitating collaborative problem-solving between students, families, and schools. The training emphasizes experiential learning through structured roleplays and discussion activities. Participants will practice both pre-mediation conflict conversations and attendance mediation sessions using realistic attendance case scenarios.
